About:
The looms will be set up for you and after a brief introduction on how the looms work, you will very quickly be weaving your own scarf or a collection of samples.

There will be lots of different yarns in colours and textures to choose from and all bits of equipment will be provided. But bring a notebook and I can show you how to make some weave notes.

You will learn all the traditional weaves, Twills, Hopsack, Herringbone as a starting point for creating your own designs.

We can have lunch when we need a break we are situated next to the lovely Yard Cafe or bring your own. We can also work beyond 4pm if you need to finish what you are doing or just can't stop, It does get addictive.

I have been teaching in many colleges among them Canterbury foundation level, Central St Martins and Goldsmiths degree level and a visiting lecturer at the Royal College of Art M.A. Also, working along side Bedouin Weavers in Egypt, traditional cloth weavers in Ethiopia and artisan basket makers in Kenya.

All this experience I would like to bring to the weaving workshops.

Stroud has a long history of weaving which is still very evident today. The five valleys that lead into Stroud are full of textile mills, which The Textile Trust open the doors to visitors to tell the historical story of these mills and the area once famous for weaving the Stroud Red cloth.
